Welcome to Avalon University School of Medicine

Avalon University School of Medicine (AUSOM), a Caribbean medical school located on the island of Curaçao, was founded by physicians who practice and teach clinical medicine and basic sciences in the United States.

Avalon University School of Medicine is recognized by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), World Health Organization (WHO), Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research/International Medical Education Directory (FAIMER/IMED) and the Medical Council of Canada (MCC).

Avalon is one of the very few Caribbean medical schools whose Board of Trustees is made up primarily of U.S. physicians. We possess the experience, knowledge, and resources that are needed to provide our students with thorough basic medical instruction on our campus and in clinical rotations in U.S. teaching hospitals.

Avalon University School of Medicine offers Premed and M.D. programs designed for highly motivated high school and college graduates. We implement a comprehensive medical curriculum that parallels that of U.S. medical schools. As a result of the resources and instruction we provide, our students are well-prepared not only for all components of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations, also known as the USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, Step 2 CS, and Step 3, but also for residency training and the practice of medicine in any setting.

If you are passionate about pursuing a continuously challenging, evolving and rewarding career in medicine, we would like to welcome you to Avalon University School of Medicine.
